I’m so glad to have stepped down from council. There are certain things that I’ll miss but there are those that I definitely won’t. Gosh and I cried like mad during the ceremony, especially when pres was giving his speech cos he was recounting all our events and I was going through them in my head. All the late nights, long meetings, stress, neglecting of studies and friends and sometimes asking myself why did I get myself into this, then all the friends I’ve made, the amazing support they were and watching our events executed successfully and knowing this is what I joined council for. Seriously, council’s a once in a lifetime experience and I believe I’ve grown and learnt a lot from it. (:
The most pleasant surprise was probably me getting the meritorious award. I don’t deny that I’m really happy I got it but somehow I think there are others who are more deserving of it than I am, namely colleen, chris and iven. Manda said but you did so much saikang you deserve it! Sure I did but so did so many others. Maybe the teachers saw something I didn’t. To me the meritorious award is for people who have done things outside their job scope. And to me that’s colleen, chris and iven.
Colleen: she has taken on dual roles of welfare head and assistant head leading the largest committee in the 29th and I really think she deserves a lot of credit for that. I know she was under a lot of stress too and no one takes their work more seriously than she does. Even though she gets teased for being a sticker to the sc rules but if she didn’t our sc will be in a complete mess by now.
Chris: he’s always had to do the arty farty stuff in council like our tons of banners (and we’ve had amny banners) and ltc shirt even though he wasn’t in the comm. And cos the rest of us (except maybe iven) can’t do art for nuts he also had to do most of the blending himself.
Iven: same reason as chris. Our tons of banners, super nice shoe bag etc. it’s always iven doing the blending and the rest of us doing our best to help.
So to the three of you, I just wanna say that I can truly see all the hard work you’ve put in and I’m so thankful to have people like you in council. So I shall commend you on my blog and let everyone see! (:
TO COLLEEN CHRIS AND IVEN WHO’VE GONE OUT OF THEIR WAY FOR COUNCIL IN MORE WAYS THAN ONE THANK YOU! (:
To the 29th thanks for all the memories and all the best for your studies. (:
Anw I have to say I had fun during commendation lunch, crapping with jialun, being suaned by ms huang and teased by mr fang (I can tell that ms huang is just enjoying herself. And mr fang! It was so unexpected. Haha), being lame with zongwei (gosh he’s just like Melvin, says the stupidest things with the straightest face and everyone can’t tell whether he’s joking or not) and taking lots of photos! Plus somehow the food’s a lot nicer than last year’s commendation lunch. Haha.
And some of the 30th wrote really sweet notes like zongwei weichiang and raissa. If they really meant what they said then screwing up bt2 for ltc and for them was somehow worth it. All the sleepless nights, talking about the day till like 2 in the morning, scribbling furiously in their reflection booklets… to know that I’ve somehow impacted them in one way or another just meant the world to me. (:
I really admire the 30th’s energy and spirit and I pray that it never dies out throughout their council term. To the 30th all the best for your council term ahead. May all of you shine for SAJC and most importantly God. (:
